Musical Lineup

Abandon Quest

Abandon Quest is a VGM band from Minneapolis, Minnesota, playing high energy arrangements of treasured tunes, often adding completely original sections to pieces. Put jazz fusion drums, guitar and synth shredding, upon a rock solid foundation of a bassist and second keyboardist to glue it all together. With being in the same city as VGM CON, AQ benefits from a healthy local VGM scene, playing shows with unique live gameplay elements.

Pokerus Project

Pokérus Project started back in 2012 by Patricio Thielemann (Guitars, arrangements) in Santiago, Chile as a solo project. With more than ten years of Video Game Music albums and live shows, now the full band conformed by Yamil Majluf (Bass), Victor Becerra (Drums) and Gabriel Leon (Keys) is one of the main nerd bands from Chile and Latin America’s scene. Their arrangements go from super chill lo fi tunes to some absolutely mind-bending progressive metal versions from a wide variety of video game tunes.

O_Super

O_Super is an experimental hip hop artist who draws influence from anime, hip hop, jazz, J-Pop, and golden age video games. O_Super has been performing as an independent artist, and is also the musical director for CEO Gaming, producing and releasing the yearly collaborative CEO Original Soundtrack since 2013, and the OST for their annual competitive anime fighting game series, CEOTaku. O_Super’s planning a series of releases this year, including an ode to Japanese date sims, an Animal Crossing-inspired EP, and other TBA projects

Obi-Wan Shinobi

Drawing inspiration from underground rave and nerd culture, Obi-Wan Shinobi is a multigenre tastemaker based out of Columbus, OH. With over 8 years of DJ experience, Obi has headlined cons and raves in the midwest/east coast, as well as opened the stage for acts such as Animal Collective, Valentino Khan, Ase Manuel, Leonce and Cakes Da Killa. As resident DJ and host of the warehouse rave Limit Break and cosplay party series Glotaku, Obi brings smooth breaks and wavy club beats to any function.

Ian Cowell

Ian Cowell is a Bay Area multi-instrumentalist and purveyor of the Dorkly Arts. A MIDIsexual amalgam of every guilty pleasure you’ve ever had, Ian collects the most delicious morsels of various genres and blends them into a rich, pungent broth of rock. In December of 2021 he released Exceptional Goblins to critical acclaim, with twelve tracks ranging from shred guitar to funky synthesizer-heavy takes on VGM classics and deep cuts alike. Ian is currently working on the follow-up to Exceptional Goblins, coming in 2023.
