Ongaku Overdrive has been bringing Orlando the best in video game bands, nerdcore, and chiptune and will continue to do that going into 2020. Our first show of the new decade is going to be spectacular as we bring back some old friends for Ongaku 20XX. We’ll have a night of great music, video game setups, art, prize raffles, themed drinks, and more. Oh, and February 29th happens to be Ongaku Overdrive founder Kent Ward’s 36th 9th birthday, so we’re going to party hard too.

Musical Lineup

Bit Brigade

Hailing from Athens, GA, Bit Brigade performs rock covers of full NES soundtracks as their gamer, Noah McCarthy, speedruns them live on stage! It’s pretty wild. Bit Brigade has played everywhere from PAX to MAGfest, and they have performed Metroid, Mega Man 2, and Legend of Zelda at our past events. At Ongaku 20XX, they will perform Mega Man 3! Bit Brigade offers an audio and visual assault on the senses that you can only experience live.

Danimal Cannon

Danimal Cannon is a video game composer and chiptune rock artist. You may have heard him in video game bands Armcannon and Metroid Metal, but when Danimal goes solo, he shreds on stage with guitar and music that he composed and plays off a Nintendo Game Boy. His album releases have been licensed for several games, including Just Shapes and Beats, 8BitMMO, and Wave Wave, with more to come. Danimal has performed all over the world and we’re excited to have him back in Orlando.

Richie Branson

Richie Branson is an indie game designer, music composer, professional meme god, and most relevant to this event: a killer hip hop emcee. He is well-known for his Otaku Tuesdays trilogy, which features many anime and video game raps. In the near future, Richie Branson will release From the Underground to the Stars and Cowboy Bebop-inspired EP Jupiter Jazz. Recently, he composed music for Rooster Teeth series gen:LOCK and Camp Camp. Oh, and did we mentioned he brought back Toonami? That’s why he’s the Otaku King!

RoboRob

RoboRob is a multi-genre producer/DJ currently based out of Tampa, FL. He’s successfully remixed music from video games like Sonic Mania, Overwatch, Undertale, Chrono Trigger, and more. He recently released KINGDOM HEARTBEATS on Materia Collective which charted at #14 in electronic/dance sales on Billboard. He loves to collaborate with other artists and release tracks that highlight his production and DJ style which ranges from Electro, House, Dubstep, and Trap. RoboRob has toured the nation, playing at MAGFest, Anime Festival Orlando, Holiday Matsuri, SXSW, and Tiny Waves; but now he makes his Ongaku Overdrive debut!

EyeQ

EyeQ has played from everywhere from PAX to MAGFest and is the first nerdcore hip hop artist to perform at the Library of Congress. He also founded Bytes & Beats, a tour that blends anime and hip hop at major conventions such as Otakon and MomoCon. EyeQ’s musical stylings come from the soul, and while he broke out with an Attack on Titan EP named Walls of Maria, he is currently working on an Anita Baker tribute in the form of three EPs. Live is out now and Love will be out on January 26th and is available for pre-order. Photo by Bradley Pearce.
