Last week, we announced The Megas for Virtua Ongaku 9! But that’s not all. We have a Mega-Stacked lineup for this show that will benefit the Asian Pacific Fund.
Check out who else we have:
Teacher, Rapper, Hero. Billboard Charter. Guinness World Record Holder. Mega Ran is all these things and more. Ran’s unique combination of fantasy and introspective hip-hop has found its way all over the world, into leading press outlets and most recently, into the Guinness Book Of World Records for having the most songs to reference a video game franchise.
Lauren Liebowitz, aka Lauren the Flute, has been part of the VGM scene as a flutist and vocalist since 2010. She leads The Returners, an Austin-based video game cover band that has performed at PAX Prime, PAX South, MAGFest, and of course our Warriors of Light event. She also records solo covers and has contributed to numerous collaborative projects in the VGM community over the years. When not performing or recording music, Lauren the Flute spends her time baking cakes, telling stories, and streaming on Twitch. Lauren also holds an MFA in creative writing and has even published a few short stories.
Described as “Outkast meets Lin-Manuel Miranda but Asian,” Super Smack is a high-energy, joy-driven rap musician, dancer, actor, and public speaker. One of the breakout nerdcore acts of 2019, Smack has performed at SXSW, MAGFest, Brooklyn Comic-Con, and co-headlined a 16-city national tour with LEX The Lexicon Artist.
Joe Chen is a wireless engineer and violist based out of San Antonio, TX. Classically trained, Joe has played in multiple orchestras over the past 20 years. He currently serves as principal violist of Symphony Viva. He also has released covers of video game music and anime on YouTube, Spotify, and other platforms as “AnimeVivi.”
There will also be a prize raffle at the end of the show, so definitely donate to support a great cause! Virtua Ongaku 9pm takes place on Saturday, May 22nd on Twitch.tv/OngakuOverdrive. The stream will start at 7pm EST.
